“And the word of the
Lord came to me saying, ‘son of Man, set your face toward Gog of the land of
Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him and say,
“Thus says the Lord God, “Behold I am
against you, O Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal, and I will turn you
about and put hooks into your jaws and bring you out…” (Ezek. 38:1-4).
Hey Gang, are you up to speed in what is happening in your
world? Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for
their lack of interest in the signs that were all around them. They knew how to predict the weather but did
not have a clue what was happening in their world.
Several weeks ago, a very profound thing happened in our
world. The economy of Turkey took a nose-
dive. So why is that so profound? Economies
go up and go down on a fairly-regular basis, but this time it has a very
special significance. The leader of Turkey
is a gent by the name of Erdogan whose mission in life is to restore the
Ottoman Empire and become a world power.
A recent decision by our President to place tariff’s on
Turkey for their price gauging has ticked Erdogan off so much that he has
nearly severed ties with the western world and has begun to seek new partners
who will give him the esteem that he feels he deserves. And that, folks, should get your attention
because those standing in the wings (Russia, Iran and Syria) stand ready to
give him what he wants and him into their unholy alliance.
History has taught us that every attack on Israel has come
from the North, which makes Turkey a key to the coming Gog Magog war. There is no question, my friends, the Gog
Magog Confederacy described by Ezekiel is growing into a mighty force, even as
I type this epistle.
If you were to ask most folks who have knowledge of this
coming war what the next big event is on God’s calendar, they would say that He
is preparing to put a hook in this Confederacy and pull them into the mountains
of Israel where He will release His wrath on them.
But, I have always had a problem with that being the next biggy in God’s Daily Planner. I could not get my head to understand how the
nations of the Gog Magog conflict listed in Ezekiel did not include the true
antagonists of the day; the ones who threaten to totally annihilate Israel are
conspicuous by their absence.
And then one day I happened to tune into an interview
involving Bill Salus and several other prophecies gurus. Bill’s answer to the omission of the rabble-rousers
who butt up against Israel, simply stated – they no longer exist. ‘And what do you base that assumption on, Mr.
Bill?’ His reply, ‘Psalm 83.’
Note the threat in Psalm 83: “For behold, Your enemies make an uproar, and those who hate You have
exalted themselves. They make shrewd
plans against Your people, And conspire
together against Your treasured ones.
They have said, “Come, and let us wipe them out as a nation” (Psalm
83:2-4).
In several of our trips to Israel we visited the Northern
most point of Israel, the town of Medulla.
One can stand on a corner stone and see Lebanon to the left and Syria to
their right. One visitor who stood on
that spot remarked, it is no longer Syria that I see but Russia, Iran and the
coming together of the Gog Magog confederacy.
So, my good buddies, I ask you again, “Are you up to speed
in what is happening in your world?” The
signs of the coming of Jesus are no longer locked up in the Book of Daniel but
are happening all around us. Jesus said,
“When that happens, you best look up for your redemption is just around the
