I Love the Power verses in the Bible!

“Behold, the Lord God will come with might, with His arm ruling for Him.  Behold, His reward is with Him and His recompense before Him.  Like a shepherd He will tend His flock.  In His arm He will gather the lambs and carry them in His bosom; He will gently lead the nursing ewes” (Isaiah 40:10-11).

I so enjoy it when someone out there sends me something that hit their hot button.  It is neat - for they often hit my hot button or something that I am working on at that time.  One of the great joys of sending out these morning messages is that it keeps my mind focused on those things, I feel God is telling me, that you might hit your hot button.

Such was the case this week when a past employee, one of our kids, sent the following to me.  Perhaps it hit my hot button because we were privileged to share God’s Word with a group of Navaho Indian young folks on our trip to Arizona, a number of years ago.

This was written by George Hunt - a member of the Kiowa Tribe.

I like this because the reading is familiar but, passed through a cultural lens which many people do not associate with Scripture.

"An Indian Version of the Twenty-Third Psalm"

"The Great Father above a Shepherd Chief is. I am his, and with him I want not. He throws out to me a rope, and the name of the rope is love, and he draws me to where the grass is green and the water not dangerous, and I eat and lie down and am satisfied."

Sometimes my heart is very weak and falls down, but he lifts me up again and draws me into a good road. His name is 'Wonderful.'"

Sometime - it may be very soon, it may be a long, long time - when I walk into the valley it will be dark, but I'll draw back not. I'll be afraid not, for it is in between those mountains that the Shepherd Chief will meet me, and the hunger that I have in my heart all through this life will be satisfied."

Sometimes he makes the love- rope into a leaders' pole, and afterwards he gives me a staff to lean upon. He spreads a table before me with all kinds of foods. He puts his hand upon my head and all the 'tired' is gone. My cup he fills 'til it runs over."

What I tell is true. I lie not. These roads that are 'away ahead' will stay with me through this life, and after; and afterwards I will go to live in the big tepee and sit down with the Shepherd Chief forever."  Jesus, my family my friends. . .  So grateful. . .

Blessings,

Gramps
